Terence O’Rourke did the double last night by winning two awards at the South Coast Property Awards.

After what has been a hugely successful year so far for the London and Bournemouth-based practice, with projects such as the Marwell Zoo Tropical House, the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre and the Chewton Glen Hotel Treehouses and Kitchen, they were delighted to be awarded Architectural Practice of the Year.

The practice’s excellent client relationships were also rewarded with the Property Client Services Award.

Held this year at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl, the South Coast Property Awards is the leading property event in the Solent region, attracting over 400 guests and entries from both commercial and residential property sectors and honouring the region’s top performers in sixteen categories.

Terence O’Rourke’s South Coast base, Bournemouth, also won the Town/City of the Year award. The practice assisted Bournemouth Borough Council and Morgan Sindall Investments with a master-plan vision to rejuvenate Bournemouth as ‘the 21st century garden city beside the sea’ and continue to be involved in the redevelopment of the town.

Terence O’Rourke’s Director, Terry Williams said “We are delighted to have won these awards. We have great clients who have given us amazing projects to work on, several of which have opened their doors this year.

The Hampshire-based luxury hotel development, Chewton Glen, opened The Kitchen last year, which incorporates a restaurant and cookery school fronted by Chef James Martin. They also added additional luxury Treehouse Suites which were designed by Terence O’Rourke.

The practice is also celebrating the opening of the TOR-designed Farnborough International Conference and Exhibition Centre, which was praised last week at the Farnborough Airshow by Prime Minister Theresa May who said that she wanted to “congratulate Farnborough on this brand-new exhibition hall. This is an outstanding building – and it is befitting for a world-leading air-show”.

Marwell Zoo have also this year opened their new exhibition, the Tropical House, which was designed by Terence O’Rourke. Marking the second phase of a £17m investment programme creating improved habitats for animals and a more immersive experience for guests, the Tropical House opened its doors to the public on 26 March 2018 and follows the successful launch of the Wild Explorers exhibit in 2015.
