Working on behalf of UK Wealth Holdings Development Ltd. (UWHD) Terence O’Rourke is promoting the re-use of the 40ha former Denham Landfill site in Buckinghamshire. The green belt site which is in the process of being remediated and restored, benefits from its strategic location on the edge of London and close to a range of existing and planned infrastructure including the M40, M25, Heathrow Airport, Crossrail and HS2.
The proposed Health Technologies Campus would help meet the urgent national need for new facilities in the Life Sciences fields of research, manufacture and production. Specifically, the three key sectors of:
• Digital Health
• Medical Technologies (Med Tech)
The potential of the site is recognized by the Buckinghamshire LEP in their recently published Economic Recovery Plan (ERP). The ERP states:
“There is an ambitious proposal for the Denham Health Technologies Campus in the south of Buckinghamshire. The campus, on a former landfill site, would provide state of the art facilities to enable businesses in the health care and life sciences sector, including start-ups and growing SMEs, to grow and contribute to economic recovery. Co-located buildings would accelerate the commercialization of the life science research, apply treatments and technologies to real life and create a stronger and more resilient health care sector.”
Positive discussions over the future of the site are continuing with the local authority, with the intention that an outline planning application will be submitted to Buckinghamshire Council in 2021
