Terence O’Rourke has secured reserved matters permission for an industrial scheme of 265,137 sq ft in the Enterprise Zone at Silverstone Park on behalf of MEPC. This scheme comprises phase 3 of the total 2 million sq ft of development permitted under the outline planning permission that we negotiated in 2017. Phases 1 and 2 (258,000 sq ft) are currently under construction and are due to be completed before the end of 2020.
The Phase 3 designs are a response to enquiries received from companies looking for larger units, of up to 100,000 sq ft. The planning conditions have been structured to enable MEPC to carry out earthworks to create the building platforms this winter, which will both implement the permission and create “oven ready” plots for potential occupiers.
Working in collaboration with Buckinghamshire Council, the application involved extensive discussions with officers and consultees in order to meet commercial requirements and to address important planning considerations, such as provision of a campus-style environment, the landscape strategy and design quality.
Silverstone Park continues to be a real magnet for specialist facilities in advanced engineering and companies with ambitious growth plans, and we are continuing to assist MEPC with several planning matters.
