Terence O’Rourke has secured planning for a landmark £20 million Mercedes-Benz dealership in Solihull for luxury car retailer LSH Auto UK Ltd.
The proposal to redevelop a Solihull office building into a new four-storey head office with showroom, workshop bays and parking spaces has been given unanimous approval by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council in a move that is set to create 138 jobs.
Terence O'Rourke submitted the proposals for the Mercedes-Benz development in June 2017 and was given approval earlier this month, with comments from the planning committee, which included "iconic building”, “best application in the last five years" and "one of the best designed buildings before the committee in some time.”
Simon Ible, senior planner at Terence O’Rourke, said: “It was not the most straightforward scheme. We faced a number of challenges regarding protected trees and mature landscapes which needed to be removed. However, with the high-quality landscape scheme put forward, which included a roof garden and green walls, we received full support from the council’s landscape officer.”
Ible added: “This is the first permission for LSH Auto in the UK since taking over the Manchester and Birmingham Mercedes-Benz franchise last year, so it’s a great result and our client is delighted.”
The news comes as several high-profile projects are coming to fruition for Terence O’Rourke, which counts Grosvenor, Berkeley Homes, MEPC and Ordnance Survey among its client list.
