Terence O’Rourke managed the planning submission and a large EIA team for the 12-turbine Lissett Airfield Wind Farm, south of Bridlington, on behalf of Novera Energy plc. We also provided specialist services including archaeology and landscape review, and designed two community newsletters and material for two local exhibitions, as well as the post consent discharge of conditions.

The site was a former World War II airfield, and as part of the public engagement process we ran a design competition for the 158 Squadron RAF site memorial. The winning design, by a local sculptor, was chosen by a local community panel.

Lissett Airfield Wind Farm became operational in 2009 and has an installed capacity of 30MW. It was used as a case study in the Killian-Pretty review as an exemplar project, highlighting good practice in early stakeholder engagement and continued communication, which resulted in a seven-month determination period.
