“Terence O’Rourke assisted Southern Water admirably in what was a very difficult public environment. With their help we achieved the onerous goal of completing the Seaclean Wight project within the strict timetable demanded by legislation. Throughout the project the Terence O’Rourke Ltd team were personable, proactive and intelligent, which greatly assisted the management load.”
RICHARD CRYER, Project Manager,
Southern Water
European directives were the catalyst for a review of the way wastewater was handled on the Isle of Wight. We played a major role in helping Southern Water to develop a new and very different strategy for dealing with this, resulting in the largest civil engineering project ever undertaken on the island: Seaclean Wight.
A new central treatment works was constructed at Sandown to take flows from the island’s coastal towns. New pumping stations and storage tanks were constructed to divert flows to Sandown with significant construction projects at a number of the Island’s key coastal towns. The project also included 60 km of transfer pipelines and a large number of planning applications for ancillary works. We were responsible for all of the planning applications and environmental impact assessment work for the project.
