The practice was architect, landscape architect and town planner for two contemporary houses at Mount Grace Drive, Poole. The scheme comprised one new house and the remodelling of an existing 1970s home.
The new property maximises south light, with two balconies and garden access. An internal atrium illuminates the heart of the building, bringing light deep inside. The top floor is set back to reduce overshadowing and to break up the building mass, while the new building has been positioned in response to existing trees and topography.
The scale and appearance of the development will help to maintain the wooded character of the site and preserve the soft landscape views across the area when viewed from the coast. Good quality materials and details will be effective against the weather in this coastal location.
