The practice was appointed by Cheltenham YMCA to provide planning and architectural and landscape architecture services in relation to its proposals for new purpose built accommodation and support facilities on its existing site in central Cheltenham.
The site is located in the central Cheltenham conservation area and the existing building is grade II listed.
Through a carefully designed scheme, a robust planning case and extensive consultation with borough council officers and English Heritage we achieved full planning, listed building and conservation area consent. The development will significantly enhance the provision of supported housing accommodation in the area, providing 81 low, medium and high support accommodation units for those who are socially excluded and homeless. The scheme also incorporates training, support and community sports facilities, which will enable the YMCA to meet the holistic needs of young people on site.
