WING - Land North of Newmarket Road
Client: Marshall Group
Planning Awards - Finalists for three categories:
Planning Permission of the Year, Planning for Housing Growth,
Stakeholder Engagement in Planning.
Appointed to provide town planning and environmental consultancy services Terence O’Rourke assisted Marshall Group to secure outline planning permission for a new vibrant community of up to 1,300 homes along with a primary school and local centre on land to the north of Cambridge Airport. While primarily on greenfield land, adjacent the existing park and ride site, the proposals also included consolidated provision for a number of existing business uses at the North Works site.
WING has been designed as a stand alone development, which takes into account the need to maintain the operational requirements of the airport while being capable of being part of the wider Cambridge East development if Cambridge Airport were to relocate in the future.
Outline permission was granted in 2016, and the practice has subsequently been appointed by Marshall Group and Hill Partnership to assist with bringing forward detailed proposals for the first phase of the scheme to deliver 500 homes.
