Client Briefing – Birmingham City Strategy

Introduction

“Under a Labour council, Birmingham is on
the up. We’re building homes, creating jobs and preparing to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games

Cllr Ian Ward

Birmingham City Council (the council) is the most populated local council area in the United Kingdom with over one million residents. Having taken over as Leader of the Council in September 2017, Cllr Ward consolidated the Labour Party’s majority in the local elections on 3 May 2018 and has made significant progress in delivering on identified priorities for residents within the metropolitan district of Birmingham City. However, the effective execution of integrated strategies, in partnership with local communities, regional bodies and private sector organisations, is necessary to secure the once in a generation benefits from opportunities such as the Commonwealth Games and HS2.
