Terence O’Rourke has a long-established relationship with this award-winning independent hotel and spa on the edge of the New Forest National Park.
We originally devised an estate-wide master plan for a number of development projects on the estate, based around a new golf course. Following this, we gained full planning permission for a new bedroom wing adjacent to the sensitive southern façade of the original hotel building, and more recently for bespoke luxury treehouse suites, designed by our team of architects.
The practice has implemented a political strategy, in the context of restrictive planning policies and environmental constraints that has ensured continued support for development at the hotel. In 2017, the strategy also delivered planning permission for the ‘Kitchen at Chewton Glen’. Also designed by our architects, this is now an operational cookery school and relaxed dining restaurant, in collaboration with celebrated chef James Martin.
