We were commissioned by the district council to engage with the local community over the future of the estate, which contains some of the most deprived wards in the south east of England, and is in need of major modernisation.
Consultation was tailored to meet the particular needs of the local community. The process involved two public open days, which were used to validate work carried out at three community stakeholder workshops.
Different development scenarios for the precinct were tested, from total refurbishment to complete redevelopment, all incorporating a community hub building and a ‘heart’ for South Oxhey as a focus for a rejuvenated centre. Capacity studies were carried out to inform the quantum of potential residential, community and retail uses. Planning parameters plans were prepared which were incorporated into the council’s Development Plan Document.
