“Terence O’Rourke is very good at seeing the big picture and understanding all the various influences that can affect a project before working them into the strategy. In addition to a thorough knowledge of the planning system, they are good at working with the planning authorities cooperatively to enable all parties to get what they need to create a successful project.”
JIM LUTZ, Senior Vice President of Development, Liberty Property Trust
Terence O’Rourke was appointed to create a masterplan for this large, mixed use business park on a former airfield site near Maidstone, Kent. Since 1998, we have successfully secured three revisions to the land use mix through development briefs and planning consents. This has resulted in a more balanced community of 2mn sq ft (185,806sq m) of office space and 3,500 residential units, from an initial mix of 3.8mn sq ft (353,031sq m) of offices and 500 dwellings.
Kings Hill is now a truly mixed use and sustainable community with high profile corporates such as Kimberley Clark and Rotary Watches, a range of award winning homes, a district centre, golf course, country park and bus services. Retail and community uses at Kings Hill include an Asda store, public house, a Little Waitrose, restaurants, GP practice, children’s nursery and two primary schools.
