“I have been very pleased by the professionalism, dedication and scope of capabilities of Terence O’Rourke Ltd. My main contacts have consistently taken a keen interest in our plans and objectives, and offered very useful advice and support throughout what was a difficult planning and construction project in a sensitive area.”

RAY HANSON, General Manager,
Mould and Web Division, Vestas Blades UK Ltd (formerly NEG Micon Rotors Ltd)

The practice prepared the planning applications and environmental statement for NEG Micon Rotors’ UK Technology Centre for the research, development and manufacture of wind turbine rotor blades and its Marine Transfer Facility on the Isle of Wight.

The project was designed to minimise impact on the estuarine and terrestrial environments and detailed negotiations with the Isle of Wight Council, Natural England and the Environment Agency helped to identify appropriate mitigation measures to ensure that the overall impact was acceptable.

The facility generated more than 400 much needed jobs on the island, bringing productivity to the river-side location without damaging the sensitive environmental balance.  The scheme has since won several awards.

The practice continued working with Vestas when it took over the facility providing post consent planning, architecture and environmental consultancy services.
