1 Monkspath Hall Road
Client: LSH Auto Properties (UK) Limited
In September 2017, Terence O’Rourke successfully secured planning permission for a landmark £20 million Mercedes-Benz dealership, incorporating a new UK head office for LSH, in Solihull. We advised on planning strategy, liaised with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and coordinated the application documents to ensure a high quality and robust submission.
A sensitive approach was required to the proposed development’s landscape design because the existing mature landscaping needed to be entirely removed to accommodate the proposed building, with very limited space available for replanting. Our landscape architects produced a high quality and innovative landscape scheme, including a roof garden and green walls, which enabled the council’s landscape officer to support the development.
The planning committee’s decision to approve the scheme was unanimous and it was the first permission for LSH in the UK since it took over the Manchester and Birmingham Mercedes-Benz franchise in 2016. Our involvement with the scheme has continued post-permission, with submissions to discharge planning conditions.
