In October 2017, Terence O’Rourke Ltd successfully secured planning permission for the £60 million redevelopment of land at Brighton Road industrial estate in Stockport into a state of the art Mercedes-Benz dealership and regional distribution hub.  The scheme will safeguard and create much needed jobs in the area and will be an important landmark building at the gateway to Stockport.

We advised on planning strategy and coordinated the application documents to ensure a high quality and robust submission.  This allowed a number of site constraints to be successfully addressed, including the presence of high pressure gas mains, contamination and protected species on site.  In addition, our landscape architects created a comprehensive landscape strategy for the development to enhance the scheme’s overall appearance while also improving the site’s biodiversity and amenity value.  

We undertook comprehensive public consultation and stakeholder liaison to achieve support for the development, which was unanimously approved by the council’s planning committee.  Our involvement has continued post-permission with submissions to discharge planning conditions.
