Terence O’Rourke assisted the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust together with Kier in obtaining planning permission for the redevelopment of Christchurch Hospital as a health campus with a village character.
A hybrid planning application was submitted for the demolition, refurbishment and reconfiguration of hospital buildings, the provision of a GP surgery and retail pharmacy, the reconfiguration of the road and parking provision, a new care home, senior living flats and key worker housing with associated parking, open space and landscape. The master plan design was landscape led due to the sensitivities of the site with mature TPO trees and a conservation area. We worked closely with the architects to make a more effective and viable use of the site combined with providing a better quality of healthcare services.
