The practice was appointed to advise the landowners of a vacant factory site on an appropriate mix of uses that would deliver a viable regeneration scheme. The design needed to take into account the World Heritage setting, busy urban location and nearby residents, whilst also creating a major employment opportunity.
Working with a leading firm of architects, Terence O’Rourke was able to devise a sensitive scheme offering new retail, employment and community space, alongside new homes and public realm. The final scheme would deliver a combination of economic, social and physical regeneration and assist the council in achieving its aim of rejuvenating Bath’s riverside corridor.
