“Working with Terence O’Rourke Ltd isn’t like working with most other consultants. They do not provide off the shelf solutions. They have brought the best out of our own team and have added real value to our work. Their input has been first class.”
JOHN MCBRIDE, Chief Executive, Borough of Poole
The practice was appointed to prepare an urban design framework for the regeneration of Poole town centre and waterside. The study formed an important part of the council’s successful bid for more than £14 million of government funding for a new harbour bridge.
We believe local residents and businesses should be involved in shaping development proposals for their community, so gaining their support through stakeholder meetings, public exhibitions and articles in the local media was a high priority. The scheme has seen the formation of key landowner alliances and the initiative identified more than 46 hectares of vacant or under-utilised land with regeneration potential. We developed a masterplan to reduce congestion and provide new commercial development, leisure opportunities and housing in a world class waterfront setting.
